Appeal Court Removes MC Oluomo as NURTW President
The Appeal Court in Abuja has invalidated the election of MC Oluomo as the National President of the National Union of Road Transport Workers (NURTW).
This means that MC Oluomo, a loyalist of President Bola Tinubu, is no longer recognized as the president of the union. Instead, the court has affirmed Tajudeen Baruwa as the re-elected NURTW president .
It’s worth noting that MC Oluomo was elected as the new National President during the Quadrennial Delegate Conference held in Osogbo, Osun State, just last week .
However, the Appeal Court’s ruling overturns this election, citing that it lacks merit .
The court’s decision also upholds the March 11, 2024, judgment of the National Industrial Court, Abuja, which recognized Baruwa’s leadership ¹. This ruling effectively nullifies all actions taken by the Isa Ore-led caretaker committee and the election that brought MC Oluomo to power .
It’ll be interesting to see how this development unfolds and what implications it may have for the NURTW and its members.
