The All Progressives Congress (APC) has emerged victorious in all the chairmanship and councillorship seats contested during Saturday’s local government elections in Ogun State.
Announcing the results on Sunday at the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) headquarters in Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, the commission’s chairman, Babatunde Osibodu, declared all 20 APC chairmanship candidates winners, along with 236 councillorship candidates.
The APC garnered a total of 613,156 votes across the state, securing a clean sweep in all 20 local government areas and 236 wards. The election saw participation from major political parties, including the Accord Party (AP), African Democratic Congress (ADC), African Action Congress (AAC), Action Democratic Party (ADP), Labour Party (LP), Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and others.
Osibodu stated that the polls were conducted peacefully, with all participating political parties demonstrating a commitment to the democratic process.
This landslide victory underscores the ruling party’s stronghold in Ogun State, further consolidating its position ahead of future political contests.
