Gombe Governor Presents N320 Billion “Budget of Resilience and Sustainability” for 2025
Gombe State Governor, Muhammadu Inuwa Yahaya, CON, has presented a budget proposal of ₦320.11 billion for the 2025 fiscal year to the State House of Assembly. Tagged the “Budget of Resilience and Sustainability,” the appropriation bill aims to tackle socio-economic challenges and drive sustainable development across the state.
Governor Yahaya highlighted that the proposed budget aligns with local, national, and global economic realities, emphasizing a strategic approach to addressing key developmental priorities.
Budget Breakdown
The proposed budget allocates:
- ₦111.09 billion (34.70%) for recurrent expenditure.
- ₦209.02 billion (65.30%) for capital expenditure.
Sectoral Allocations
The economic sector received the largest share, with over ₦138 billion, followed by:
- Works, Housing, and Transport: Over ₦85 billion.
- Social Sector: Approximately ₦59 billion.
- Health and Education: Each allocated over ₦32 billion.
- Higher Education: Over ₦15 billion.
- Water Resources, Environment, and Forestry: More than ₦19 billion.
Focus on Economic Growth and Sustainability
Governor Yahaya pledged to implement fiscal reforms, reduce unnecessary expenditures, and attract private sector investments to ensure optimal resource utilization. He noted that these measures are designed to deliver impactful results despite prevailing economic challenges.
The Gombe State House of Assembly will now deliberate on the proposal, with hopes that its passage will enable the administration to address critical needs and bolster development efforts in 2025.
