Police, DSS, Judiciary Commit to Supporting Anti-Corruption Efforts

Key law enforcement and judicial bodies in Niger State, including the Police, Directorate of State Security (DSS), and the judiciary, have pledged their support to the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) in its fight against corruption and economic crimes.

This commitment was made during official visits by the Acting Zonal Director of the EFCC Kaduna Zonal Directorate, Dr. Benedict Ubi, to Niger State Commissioner of Police Shawulu Ebenezer Danmamman, DSS State Director Usman Bello Ibrahim, and Chief Judge of Niger State, Hon. Justice Halima I. Abdulmalik.

Speaking on behalf of EFCC Executive Chairman Ola Olukoyede, Dr. Ubi called for strengthened collaboration among law enforcement agencies, particularly in joint operations and training initiatives aimed at combating corruption and financial crimes.

In response, the Commissioner of Police and DSS Director reaffirmed their agencies’ readiness to work closely with the EFCC. They commended the Commission’s efforts to build a corruption-free Nigeria, emphasizing the importance of synergy to enhance effectiveness in fulfilling its mandate.

Justice Abdulmalik also expressed her commitment to supporting the EFCC’s operations, announcing plans to designate two judges in the state to specifically handle EFCC-related cases.

The visit highlights the growing inter-agency collaboration needed to bolster Nigeria’s anti-corruption agenda and ensure accountability in governance and economic management.
