Indian Man Awakens Moments Before Cremation
A shocking incident unfolded in Rajasthan, India, when a man declared dead by doctors woke up on a funeral pyre moments before it was set ablaze.
Rohitash Kumar, a 25-year-old man with hearing and speech impairments, fell ill and was rushed to a hospital in Jhunjhunu on Thursday after reportedly suffering an epileptic seizure. Upon arrival, a doctor declared him dead.
In violation of medical protocol, no postmortem examination was conducted to confirm the cause of death. Instead, Kumar’s body was sent directly to the mortuary and subsequently for cremation, as per Hindu funeral traditions.
According to the hospital’s chief medical officer, Singh, the attending doctor had “prepared a postmortem report without actually performing the procedure.” The body was then handed over to Kumar’s family for the cremation ritual.
However, just before the pyre was lit, witnesses noticed Kumar’s body moving. It was discovered that he was still alive and breathing. Kumar was immediately taken back to the hospital for treatment. Tragically, he passed away the following day, on Friday.
The incident has sparked outrage, leading to the suspension of three doctors involved. Local authorities have also launched a police investigation to probe the negligence that led to the harrowing series of events.
This case has reignited debates about medical accountability and the need for stricter adherence to protocols in India’s healthcare system.
