President Tinubu Arrives in France for 3-Day State Visit
President Bola Tinubu has arrived in Paris, France, for a three-day state visit, at the invitation of French President Emmanuel Macron.
The Nigerian leader touched down at Orly Airport in Paris at 5:10 p.m. local time on Wednesday.
This visit aims to strengthen the political, economic, and cultural ties between Nigeria and France, with a focus on enhancing cooperation in agriculture, security, education, health, youth engagement, innovation, and energy transition.
According to presidential spokesman Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu and his wife, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, are scheduled to be hosted by President Macron and First Lady Brigitte Macron on Thursday at two of France’s most iconic landmarks: Les Invalides and the Élysée Palace. The events will include formal ceremonies and bilateral meetings.
Discussions during the visit will center on expanding youth-focused exchange programs, particularly in areas such as automation, entrepreneurship, innovation, and leadership.
“Both leaders will engage in diplomatic talks addressing shared interests in finance, solid minerals, trade, investments, and communication,” the statement noted. “They will also participate in a session organized by the France-Nigeria Business Council, which focuses on private sector involvement in economic development.”
First Lady Oluremi Tinubu and Brigitte Macron are also expected to discuss initiatives aimed at empowering women, children, and other vulnerable groups, in line with the objectives of Nigeria’s First Lady’s Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI).
