Fire Guts Section of Radio Nigeria’s Building in Lagos
A fire outbreak has caused significant damage to the offices, studios, and sections of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) building in Ikoyi, Lagos State. The fire, which is believed to have started from an air conditioning unit late on Wednesday night, affected several key areas of the building, including control rooms and studios.
Dr. Olufemi Oke-Osanyintolu, Permanent Secretary of the Lagos State Emergency Management Agency (LASEMA), confirmed that the fire spread to adjoining buildings, severely damaging the roofs and three studios. Emergency teams from LASEMA, Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Federal Fire Service, and LASAMBUS worked together to control the fire, preventing further damage and ensuring the safety of those involved.
Despite the destruction, some valuable properties were salvaged during the operation. This fire follows a recent report by Corruptionreporter detailing a fire that broke out two days ago at the Alayabiagba boundary market in Ajegunle, Lagos, where at least 11 shops were destroyed, causing millions of naira in losses.
