Gov. Sani Presents N790bn 2025 Budget Proposal to Kaduna Assembly
Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, has presented a N790 billion budget proposal for 2025 to the State House of Assembly, focusing on critical sectors like infrastructure, human capital development, security, and agriculture.
In his address on Monday, Governor Sani explained that the budget reflects a conservative yet strategic approach to resource allocation, considering the current financial challenges. Of the total budget, N553 billion is allocated for capital expenditure, while N237 billion will go towards recurrent expenses.
The governor highlighted that the capital allocation underscores his administration’s focus on infrastructure, particularly rural roads, healthcare facilities, education infrastructure, and housing projects. He emphasized that these initiatives are designed to have a lasting positive impact on the economic wellbeing of citizens.
Governor Sani reiterated his commitment to the education sector, with N206.6 billion (26.14% of the total budget) earmarked for its development. The funding will support the construction of new schools, the rehabilitation of existing ones, teacher recruitment and capacity building, and the provision of learning materials.
For the health sector, N127 billion (16.07% of the budget) has been allocated to upgrade healthcare facilities, procure medical equipment, and expand mobile healthcare services, ensuring equitable access to quality healthcare in all communities.
Infrastructure development also remains a key priority, with N106 billion (13.14%) set aside for completing ongoing road construction, rural electrification, water supply, and other essential public works across the state.
In agriculture, Governor Sani has allocated N74 billion (9.36% of the budget) to support agricultural innovation, smallholder farmers, agro-processing, and irrigation projects, aimed at boosting food security and rural development.
A total of N11.2 billion will be allocated to security, enhancing the capacity of state security agencies, purchasing equipment, and supporting community policing efforts. The budget also includes provisions for social welfare programs under the newly established Ministry of Humanitarian Affairs, focusing on supporting vulnerable groups, including the elderly, women, and children.
Governor Sani emphasized that the 2025 budget reflects his administration’s commitment to inclusive development, job creation, and improving infrastructure, with the goal of building a safe, prosperous, and equitable Kaduna State. He urged the Assembly to support the budget and pledged to work together to make the state a place where all residents can thrive.
Speaker of the Assembly, Hon. Yusuf Liman, commended the governor’s leadership and assured him of the Assembly’s full support in passing the budget. He expressed commitment to working closely with the governor’s administration to achieve a transformed, inclusive, and prosperous Kaduna State, setting an example of good governance, transparency, and sustainable development across Nigeria.
