2027 Comment: ACF Recalls Suspended NEC Chairman Osuman

The Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF), a prominent northern sociopolitical organization, has lifted the suspension placed on its National Executive Council (NEC) Chairman, Chief Mamman Mike Osuman, SAN, over comments deemed politically partisan.

Osuman was suspended earlier after making statements in which he indicated that the Forum would only support northern candidates in the upcoming 2027 general election. This was perceived as a violation of the ACF’s non-partisan stance.

A statement from the Forum, signed by its Secretary General, Mal. Murtala Aliyu, revealed that the suspension had been rescinded following the successful intervention of the ACF Unity, Peace, and Reconciliation Committee. The committee, chaired by Dr. Mahmoud Yayale Ahmed, CFR (Ajiyan Katagum), facilitated discussions with key stakeholders, including the Chairman of the Board of Trustees and other members of the NEC, to resolve the matter.

The statement further clarified, “The issue has been amicably resolved in the interest of the great people of Arewa, and the suspension is hereby withdrawn.” This resolution aims to restore harmony within the Forum and uphold its commitment to fostering unity in the northern region.
