Shettima Present as Nigeria Launches Hazard Risk Countrywide Analysis 2024
Vice President Kashim Shettima was present at the launch of Nigeria’s Hazard Risk Countrywide Analysis 2024, held in Abuja, alongside notable guests including Benjamin Kalu, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives.
The analysis highlights key threats to Nigeria’s socio-economic growth, covering areas such as security, health, and natural disasters. The report reveals persistent security challenges, particularly in regions such as Borno, Adamawa, and Yobe in the North-East; Zamfara, Sokoto, and Kaduna in the North-West; and Imo, Enugu, and Ebonyi in the South-East.
Natural disasters, particularly flooding, pose a significant threat, with 80-95% of states in Nigeria vulnerable to flooding risks. In the health sector, the report underscores the ongoing battle with disease outbreaks, listing cholera, measles, meningitis, yellow fever, and Lassa fever as national epidemics.
The report was compiled through the efforts of over 400 representatives from various sectors and organizations who contributed to the research process.
