JUST-IN: Security Blocks Emir Sanusi II From Attending Bichi District Head Coronation
On Friday morning, security operatives blocked access to the Emir’s Palace in Kano, preventing Emir Muhammadu Sanusi II from attending a royal event in the Bichi local government area of Kano State. According to an online newspaper, News Point Nigeria, a source within the Kano Emirate revealed that Emir Sanusi II had been scheduled to attend the ceremony to present the staff of office to the new District Head of Bichi.
However, the source stated that heavily armed security forces instructed the Emir to stay indoors, while armored personnel carriers (APCs) blocked the entrance to the Palace. “The Emir has been on the phone and is trying to understand what is happening,” the source said.
Another source within the Kano State government informed the newspaper that Governor Abba Kabir Yusif had sent a delegation to the Palace, but they too were stopped from entering by the security personnel.
Additionally, security forces had cordoned off the venue of the event in Bichi, where Emir Sanusi II was expected to attend.
