Retailers and Dangote Refinery Seal PMS Supply Deal for Year-End Festivities, Assure Zero Scarcity
The Petroleum Products Retail Outlet Owners Association of Nigeria (PETROAN) has finalized a significant agreement with Dangote Refinery to ensure a steady supply of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS), or petrol, during the upcoming Christmas and New Year celebrations.
In a statement issued on Friday, PETROAN expressed confidence that this deal, coupled with the recent production commencement at the Port Harcourt Refinery, will prevent fuel supply shortages during and after the festive season. The association, led by its national president, Dr. Billy Gillis Hary, has been working closely with Dangote Refinery to implement strategies that ensure uninterrupted supply of fuel.
The agreement was the result of a successful negotiation meeting held on December 2, 2024, between PETROAN’s delegation and Dangote Refinery management in Lagos. The deal includes reserving a specific monthly volume of PMS for PETROAN, along with favorable payment terms and conditions. PETROAN assured Nigerians that there would be no fuel scarcity, urging them to avoid panic buying, which it described as unsafe and dangerous.
Dr. Joseph Obele, PETROAN’s national PRO, emphasized the association’s preparedness to manage fuel distribution during the festive season. PETROAN also called for continued support from stakeholders in the downstream sector, including NNPC Retail Ltd and Dangote Refinery, to ensure consistent petroleum product availability.
The association reassured the public that its retail outlets across Nigeria are on high alert to provide efficient service and prevent any fuel shortages during the holidays.
