Imo PDP Appoints Ugochinyere as Party’s State Leader

Hon. Ikenga Imo Ugochinyere, a member of the House of Representatives representing the Ideato North/South Federal Constituency in Imo State, has been appointed as the leader of the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

This decision was made after a meeting of 27 PDP chairmen from all local government areas of Imo State over the weekend. Ugochinyere, the highest elected office-holder of the PDP in Imo, was chosen as the party’s leader, following a vote of confidence from the chairmen.

In a statement signed on behalf of the 27 chairmen by the Coordinating Chairman of the Imo PDP LGA Chairmen Forum, the leaders urged all stakeholders to rally behind the lawmaker in efforts to revitalize the party and prevent its collapse both at the state and national levels.

The PDP leaders emphasized Ugochinyere’s leadership qualities and commitment to the party, praising his track record and dedication to promoting the party’s ideals. They expressed confidence that Ugochinyere would serve as a rallying point for the party’s resurgence in the state, ahead of future elections.

In their statement, the leaders also called for the immediate removal of the party’s acting national chairman, Umar Damagun, and national secretary, Samuel Anyanwu. They argued that their continued presence in office, even illegally, was harming the party’s efforts as it prepared for the 2027 elections.

The leaders concluded by urging all party stakeholders to support Ugochinyere in his new role and assist him in rebuilding the PDP into a more powerful and influential force in Nigerian politics.
