Prince William to Meet with Trump in Paris
Prince William, the UK’s heir to the throne, will meet with US President-elect Donald Trump and outgoing First Lady Jill Biden during his visit to Paris for the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral on Saturday, Kensington Palace announced.
The Prince of Wales will attend the ceremony to mark the restoration of the cathedral, which was severely damaged by a fire in 2019, representing the UK. “While in Paris, His Royal Highness will also hold meetings with the First Lady of the United States, Dr. Jill Biden, and US President-Elect, Donald Trump,” the Palace confirmed in a statement.
Prince William will join around 40 heads of state and government for the reopening ceremony in the French capital. His last meeting with Trump took place in 2019, when the then-US president visited the UK on a state trip.
This will be the Prince’s first visit to Paris since 2017, when he and his wife, Princess Catherine, visited for a two-day trip following the Brexit referendum. On this occasion, Kate will not accompany him as she has been gradually returning to public duties after being diagnosed with cancer earlier this year. King Charles III is also undergoing cancer treatment.
Earlier this year, Prince William participated in the D-Day commemorations in Normandy, alongside his father, King Charles, and other global leaders, including Jill Biden.
