JUST-IN: Mahama Stages Comeback as Bawumia Concedes Defeat in Ghana’s Election

Ghana’s Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia has conceded defeat to former President John Mahama in the country’s presidential election.

Bawumia, the candidate for the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), acknowledged Mahama’s lead as results continued to come in. Mahama, from the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is on track to secure a victory.

With partial results showing Mahama with 56.39% of the votes (976,644), compared to Bawumia’s 42.64% (738,493 votes), the former president appears poised to return to power.
