Again, LP Suffers Setback As Another Lawmaker Defects To APC

In a significant setback for the opposition Labour Party (LP), Dalyop Chollom, a member of the House of Representatives elected on its platform, has defected to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, made the announcement during Tuesday’s plenary session, where he read Chollom’s resignation letter. In the letter, Chollom cited the ongoing political infighting within the Labour Party as the key reason for his departure.

Chollom, who represents the Barkin Ladi/Riyom federal constituency in Plateau State, explained that his decision was driven by his desire for “better representation” of his constituents.

His defection follows a pattern of similar moves, as four other LP members of the House of Representatives also switched allegiance to the APC just last week.
