Israel Destroys Key Military Sites in Syria, War Monitor Reports
Israel has carried out a series of airstrikes on Syria, reportedly destroying the country’s most important military sites, according to a war monitor. The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights stated on Tuesday that Israel had targeted key military infrastructure, including airports, warehouses, aircraft squadrons, radars, military signal stations, and weapons depots across various regions in Syria.
The strikes, which have been ongoing for the past 48 hours, are believed to be aimed at dismantling the remnants of President Bashar al-Assad’s military capabilities following the collapse of his government. The war monitor indicated that some of the most significant attacks took place near the coastal city of Latakia, where an air defence facility, military warehouses, and naval ships were struck.
The strikes around Damascus focused on military installations, research centers, and electronic warfare sites. The impact of the airstrikes was felt as loud explosions were heard across the Syrian capital early on Tuesday.
Israel’s military actions have been framed as part of an effort to neutralize threats posed by the Assad regime and other military forces within Syria, with the Israeli government taking a firm stance on preventing any further military buildup in the region. This recent surge in airstrikes is a continuation of Israel’s policy of targeting military infrastructure in Syria, particularly in response to growing regional instability.
