President Tinubu Celebrates Prof. Iya Abubakar at 90

President Bola Tinubu has extended warm congratulations to elder statesman and esteemed mathematician, Prof. Iya Abubakar, on his 90th birthday.

Prof. Abubakar, a former Vice Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, also served as Minister of Defence during Nigeria’s Second Republic and as Senator representing Adamawa North from 1999 to 2007.

In a statement issued by his spokesperson, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu praised Prof. Abubakar for his invaluable contributions to Nigeria’s development through his illustrious career in academia, public service, and politics. The President specifically acknowledged his pioneering work in Mathematics and Computer Science, which laid a strong foundation for future advancements in the fields.

President Tinubu commended the professor’s commitment to mentorship and guidance in retirement, describing him as a source of wisdom and inspiration to younger generations.

He also prayed for Prof. Abubakar’s continued good health and vitality, enabling him to keep serving the nation with his experience and insight.
