Troops Rescue Three Kidnap Victims in Taraba, Recover Weapons
In a commendable operation, troops of the 6 Brigade, Nigerian Army/Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke, successfully rescued three kidnap victims in Manzala village, Yorro Local Government Area, Taraba State.
The rescue mission, launched on December 13, 2024, followed a distress call about bandit activities in the area. Troops swiftly mobilized, pursued the kidnappers, and secured the victims’ release. The Acting Assistant Director of 6 Brigade Army Public Relations, Olubodunde Oni, confirmed that the rescued victims have been reunited with their families.
Further Security Efforts
To consolidate these gains, the troops conducted aggressive patrols across the mountainous terrains and identified flashpoints in Ardo-Kola and Yorro Local Government Areas. These actions are part of broader efforts to neutralize threats and uphold security in the region.
On December 12, 2024, troops on patrol along the Takum-Katsina Ala express road intervened in an ongoing robbery near Kasuwan Shanu in Takum town. Their swift action led to the arrest of a suspect, Emmanuel Thomas Oryiman, found with a locally fabricated pistol and two rounds of 9mm ammunition.
Commitment to Peace
Brigadier General Kingsley Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade Nigerian Army, attributed these successes to Operation GOLDEN PEACE, an initiative aimed at fostering stability and denying criminal elements freedom to operate in Taraba and parts of Benue State.
“The Nigerian Army remains committed to safeguarding lives and property, ensuring peace and stability within its areas of responsibility,” the commander stated.
General Uwa lauded the troops’ bravery and professionalism and encouraged the public to support security efforts by providing credible information about criminal activities.
The operations underscore the Nigerian Army’s dedication to ensuring safety and security for residents of the affected areas.
