Gov Eno Tasks New Judges on Strengthening Criminal Justice Enforcement

Akwa Ibom State Governor, Pastor Umo Eno, has urged six newly inaugurated High Court Judges to prioritize the enforcement of the Criminal Justice System to tackle criminality in the state effectively.

Speaking at their swearing-in ceremony at the Banquet Hall of Government House, Uyo, Governor Eno reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to ensuring that Akwa Ibom remains a peaceful and secure state where businesses can thrive.

“My mandate is to serve the people, ensuring that the rule of law is respected and that society is free from criminal elements. This will enable our citizens to pursue their legitimate endeavors in a peaceful environment,” the governor stated.

He emphasized that the addition of new judges would facilitate the swift trial of criminal cases and ensure that justice is served promptly and impartially. He pledged continued collaboration between the executive and judiciary to uphold peace and security in the state.

“The judiciary is the last hope of the common man, and I trust that you will continue to dispense justice fairly without fear or favor. We will remain steadfast in supporting the judiciary to deliver its mandate effectively,” Eno added.

Governor Eno congratulated the newly elevated judges, highlighting their professional excellence and commitment to justice, which earned them recommendations from the Nigerian Judiciary Council (NJC). He also expressed appreciation to the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN), Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, and the State Chief Judge, Justice Ekaette Obot, for fostering collaboration within the judiciary.

The newly sworn-in judges are:

  • Umohandi Mfon Winifred
  • Ekanem Bassey James
  • Essien Bassey Iwakaowo
  • Morrison Comfort Henry
  • Ntekim Edet Ekpo
  • Eddie Sharon Julius

Their appointments mark a significant step toward strengthening Akwa Ibom’s judicial system and promoting the rule of law across the state.
