Buni Assures Yobe Residents of Hitch-Free Christmas Celebration
Yobe State Governor, Hon. Mai Mala Buni, has assured residents of the state that adequate measures have been put in place to ensure a peaceful and hitch-free Christmas and New Year celebration.
Governor Buni, who was represented by his deputy, Hon. Idi Barde Gubana, made the assurance on Thursday during a routine security council meeting with heads of security agencies at the Government House in Damaturu.
In his remarks, the governor emphasized that the meeting was convened to review the security situation in the state and make necessary arrangements for a safe yuletide period, allowing Christians to enjoy their festive celebrations.
After the meeting, the Commissioner of Police in the state, Ahmad Garba, reaffirmed the commitment of security agencies to safeguarding the lives and properties of residents throughout the celebrations. He also urged parents and guardians to closely monitor their children to prevent their involvement in criminal activities during the festive season.
CP Garba assured that law enforcement agencies would not tolerate any criminal behavior, vowing to take strict action against offenders.
The security meeting was attended by various key officials, including the Secretary to the State Government, Baba Mallan Wali; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Security Matters, Brigadier Gen. Dahiru Abdulsalam (Rtd); the Bridge Commander of the 27 Taskforce Brigade; the State Director of the Department of State Services (DSS); the Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC); and the Controller of the Immigration Service. Also present were the State Commandant of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), the Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), and senior officials from the office of the Secretary to the Government.
