Army Promotes 35 Brigadier Generals, 73 Colonels To Next Ranks
The Army Council has approved the promotion of 108 senior officers to the next ranks of Major General and Brigadier General, respectively.
According to a statement by the Army Spokesman, Major General Onyema Nwachukwu, 35 Brigadier Generals have been promoted to Major General, and 73 Colonels have been elevated to Brigadier General.
The Chief of Army Staff, Lieutenant General Olufemi Oluyede, congratulated the newly promoted senior officers and their families, urging them to redouble their efforts in justifying their elevation. He emphasized the importance of leading by example, developing innovative solutions to address contemporary security challenges, and remaining loyal to the constitution.
The officers promoted to the rank of Major General include:
- Brig. Gen. A. Garba, Acting Provost Marshal Nigerian Army
- Brig. Gen. U.M. Alkali, Deputy Chief of Administration, Directorate of Veteran Affairs (Army)
- Brig. Gen. A.G.L. Haruna, Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division and Commander Sector 1 North East Operation HADIN KAI
- Brig. Gen. I.A. Ajose, Acting General Officer Commanding 8 Division and Commander Sector 2 North West Operation FANSAN YAMA
- Brig. Gen. N.B. Ebulue, Headquarters Nigerian Army Heritage and Future Centre
Among others, 73 Colonels were also promoted to Brigadier General, including:
- Col. S.M. Iliya, Commander 43 Engineers Brigade
- Col. O. Igwe, Commander 78 Supply and Transport
- Col. N.E. Udofia, Headquarters Nigerian Army Electrical Mechanical Engineers
- Col. U.R. Okoroji, Commander 404 Engineers Brigade
- Col. G.S. Oyinwola, Army Headquarters Department of Military Secretary
These promotions reflect the Army’s continued efforts to strengthen leadership at all levels and enhance operational effectiveness.
