BREAKING: Court Grants Dele Farotimi ₦30m Bail

Human rights lawyer and activist Dele Farotimi has been granted bail in the sum of ₦30 million by a Magistrate’s Court in Ekiti State.

Farotimi, who had been held at a correctional facility in Ado Ekiti, arrived at the court premises on Friday morning around 9:45 am. His arrival was marked by a police-escorted prison van, greeted by a crowd of supporters outside the courthouse.

To loud cheers from the gathering, Farotimi stepped out of the van and acknowledged the crowd’s solidarity by raising his hands in gratitude.

During the court session, the bail conditions were finalized, though further details or comments from his legal team or court officials were not provided at the time of this report.

Farotimi’s legal battle has garnered widespread public attention, with human rights groups and activists closely monitoring the proceedings.

The charges against him stem from allegations of defamation directed at legal icon Chief Afe Babalola in Farotimi’s book titled Nigeria and its Corrupt Justice System.
