The festive atmosphere of Christmas enveloped the State House Conference Centre in Abuja as Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, hosted a special Christmas brunch for children from two foster homes.

In her remarks, Senator Tinubu highlighted the essence of Christmas—love, compassion, and unity—urging Nigerians to embody these values throughout the year.

“Christmas should remind us to love our neighbours and go all out to help others. Next year, let’s make it a year of love and a cleaner, greener Nigeria,” she said.

The First Lady’s media aide, Busola Kukuyi, shared a statement emphasizing the Federal Government’s efforts to improve the lives of Nigerians and its commitment to sustaining these efforts into 2025. Describing the upcoming year as one of hope and actualization of God’s goodness, Senator Tinubu urged the children to extend love to everyone, mirroring Christ’s example.

“The reason we are all here is to celebrate the birthday of Jesus Christ,” she said, referencing her book, The Christmas Story.

The book, which reimagines the story of Jesus’ birth with Nigerian characters, was read aloud by the First Lady during the event. It sparked discussions as the children asked questions, which she answered with enthusiasm.

Guests from the Abuja Children Home and Vine Heritage Home Foundation (VHHF) participated in activities, including a national anthem contest, where winners received cash prizes. All attendees were treated to gifts, food, and drinks, spreading joy and Christmas cheer.

Speaking to journalists after the event, Senator Tinubu reflected on her journey and encouraged Nigerians to approach 2025 with faith, optimism, and hard work. She reiterated her vision of a cleaner and greener Nigeria, urging collective efforts towards this goal.
