Port-Harcourt Refinery Not Shut Down, Fully Operational — NNPCL

The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) has refuted reports alleging that the Port Harcourt Refinery has ceased operations. The company assured Nigerians that the refinery, which recently underwent rehabilitation, remains fully operational.

In a statement released on Saturday morning, NNPCL spokesman Olufemi Soneye dismissed the claims as false, stating:
“The attention of the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPC Ltd) has been drawn to reports in a section of the media alleging that the Old Port Harcourt Refinery, which was re-streamed two months ago, has been shut down.”

He emphasized that the refinery is actively functioning, as confirmed by inspections conducted a few days ago by former group managing directors of NNPC.

Soneye further clarified:
“Preparation for the day’s loading operation is currently ongoing.”

The NNPCL urged the public to disregard the reports, attributing them to individuals attempting to incite panic and create artificial scarcity in order to exploit Nigerians.

The statement concluded by reassuring citizens of the company’s commitment to maintaining uninterrupted refinery operations and ensuring the availability of petroleum products across the country.
