Road Crash Claims Two Lives In Ogun
Tragedy struck on Friday evening when a road accident claimed the lives of two individuals and left one injured in the Egbado area of Ewekoro Local Government, along the Lagos-Abeokuta expressway in Ogun State.
The Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola, confirmed the incident in a statement issued in Abeokuta on Saturday.
According to Odutola, the crash involved a Howo truck, bearing registration number FGE 904 ZS, owned by Dangote Cement Company in Ibeshe, and a tricycle operated by Samuel Egede, a 33-year-old resident of Folami Ifo.
“The truck driver, whose identity is currently unknown, violated traffic regulations by driving against traffic, leading to a collision with the tricycle, which had the right of way,” she explained.
A police traffic team promptly responded to the accident, conducting preliminary investigations, including creating a sketch map of the scene and taking photographs.
Odutola added:
“The bodies of the deceased have been taken to the State Hospital Morgue in Ifo for autopsy, while the injured person received medical attention. Both the truck and the tricycle have been moved to the police station for inspection and safekeeping.”
The incident underscores the importance of adhering to traffic regulations to avoid preventable tragedies on the roads.
