Embarrass Tinubu, Get Expelled, Rivers APC Chair Warns Members
The Rivers State chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Tony Okocha, has issued a stern warning that any member of the party who embarrasses President Bola Tinubu or the National Working Committee (NWC) of the party will face immediate expulsion.
Speaking during an event marking his birthday in Port Harcourt, which included distributing palliatives to vulnerable widows, Okocha emphasized his commitment to protecting the image and integrity of the party and its leadership.
“You know that the day I was sworn into office, I extended an olive branch to everybody. I said, come, let us work together. Where it becomes impossible, and they are embarrassing the President, I will not sit down and allow them embarrass Mr. President. The APC is Mr. President’s political party,” Okocha said.
He added: “If the national chairman of the party and 18 members of the National Working Committee come here, and anybody goes behind to embarrass the national secretariat of our party, I will expel them. It is a political party. If the kitchen is too hot, what do you do? You leave.”
On Governor Fubara and PDP Membership
In a related development, Okocha alleged that Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara is no longer a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) or any other political party. He advised the governor to stop meddling in APC affairs and instead focus on re-registering with the PDP.
He accused Governor Fubara of using resources to destabilize the APC and pointed out that the PDP would not sponsor him in an election if held today because he is no longer a member of the party.
“I thought that all of these braggadocio that he is machinating around the APC, he should have used the same thing to register himself as a member of the PDP. He is not carrying the card of any political party,” Okocha said.
The APC chairman criticized the governor’s actions and warned of potential consequences, urging him to reconsider his approach.
“I pray for him that he changes his style; otherwise, the wrath of God might descend,” Okocha added.
Okocha’s comments come amidst ongoing tensions in Rivers politics, highlighting the growing rift between APC leadership and the state’s governor.
