IGP Unveils Police Insurance Firm, Decorates 26 Promoted Senior Officers

The Inspector-General of Police (IGP), Olukayode Egbetekun, has officially launched the Police Insurance Company Ltd, designed to enhance the welfare and security of police officers and their families, as well as offer insurance services to the general public.

Speaking during the unveiling ceremony in Abuja on Monday, the IGP stated that the idea of establishing the insurance company was conceived six years ago, and he expressed his delight at seeing it come to fruition.

“The Police Insurance Company is structured to provide global insurance services to both groups and individuals, extending beyond police personnel to the public, within and outside Nigeria,” IGP Egbetekun said.

The Force Insurance Officer, CSP Lydia Ameh, emphasized that the insurance company will cater to public needs in addition to those of police officers, reinforcing its broad operational scope.

Promotion of Senior Officers

In a related development, the IGP also decorated 26 newly promoted senior officers whose appointments were recently approved by the Police Service Commission (PSC).

The decorated officers include:

  • 11 Assistant Inspectors General of Police (AIGs)
  • 16 Commissioners of Police (CPs)

Among the decorated officers were AIG Mustpha Mohammed, AIG Adeleke Olatunde, AIG Abdullahi Ibrahim, AIG Nwoye Emeka, CP Bose Akinyemi, and CP Shettima Mohammed, among others.

Call to Service and Integrity

Addressing the newly promoted officers, the IGP urged them to uphold the principles of integrity, fairness, and equity in their professional duties. He warned against engaging in corruption, favoritism, and lobbying for promotions or postings.

“Any officer caught lobbying for promotions or postings will face strict disciplinary actions,” the IGP emphasized.

The event marked a significant step towards improving the welfare of police officers while promoting accountability and professionalism in the Nigeria Police Force.
