JUST IN: Court Remands Queen Naomi, Oriyomi, Fasasi Over Ibadan Stampede
The Chief Magistrate Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State, has ordered the remand of Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, and Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi at the Agodi Correctional Center for their alleged roles in last week’s tragic stampede at the Ibadan Children Funfair.
The incident, which occurred on Wednesday, December 18, 2024, at Islamic High School, Ibadan, resulted in the death of 35 minors and left several others injured.
Court Proceedings
Amid heightened security, the trio appeared before Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi on Tuesday. Those arraigned included:
- Prophetess Naomi Silekunola, estranged wife of the Ooni of Ile Ife, Oba Enitan Adeyeye Ogunwusi.
- Alhaji Oriyomi Hamzat, proprietor of Agidigbo FM.
- Mr. Abdullahi Fasasi, principal of Islamic High School, Bashorun, Ibadan.
The defendants face a four-count charge filed by the police prosecutor, who alleged that their actions contravened Section 324 of the Criminal Code, Cap. 38, Vol. II, Laws of Oyo State of Nigeria, 2000.
Magistrate’s Ruling
Magistrate Ogunkanmi ordered the remand of the accused at Agodi Correctional Center pending legal advice from the State Prosecutor.
The court premises was packed with relatives of the defendants, as well as other concerned individuals and onlookers.

The arraignment marks the first step in what is likely to be an extensive legal process aimed at determining accountability for the devastating loss of young lives.
