Yuletide: Police Restrict Movement in 5 Plateau LGAs

The Plateau State Police Command has announced movement restrictions in five local government areas (LGAs) to ensure a peaceful and secure Christmas and New Year celebration.

The affected LGAs are Mangu, Bokkos, Barkin Ladi, Riyom, and Bassa.

In a statement released on Tuesday in Jos, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Alfred Alabo, outlined additional measures, including a ban on nightclubs and mining activities within these areas during the festive period.

“Liquor bars will be allowed to operate only between morning hours and 6:00 PM,” the statement read. DSP Alabo also disclosed that Commissioner of Police Emmanuel Adesina will oversee the deployment of adequate security personnel, both in uniform and plain clothes, to maintain order throughout the celebrations.

Parents and guardians were urged to caution their children and wards against the use of fireworks, with the Command warning that anyone caught violating this directive will face arrest and prosecution.

Furthermore, a total ban on tricycle operations has been imposed on December 25 and 26, 2024, as well as January 1, 2025.

The Police Command reassured the public of its commitment to ensuring safety and called for cooperation from all residents during the festive season.
