24 Hours After, Uncertainty Over Safety Of Kidnapped Anambra Lawmaker
Tension continues to mount in Anambra State as the safety of Hon. Justice Azuka, a member of the State House of Assembly, remains uncertain 24 hours after his abduction.
Hon. Azuka was kidnapped on Christmas Eve at approximately 9:20 pm in the Ugwunakpamkpa area while returning home for Christmas celebrations. According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Anambra State Police Command, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, gunmen, whose identities are still unknown, were behind the abduction.
The police have since launched an operation to rescue the lawmaker and apprehend his abductors, pledging to ensure they face the full force of the law.
However, a source close to the situation has raised concerns, suggesting that the lawmaker might have been killed. When reached for confirmation, the PPRO dismissed the claim, stating, “No information like that before me.”
Adding to the anxiety, there have been no ransom demands from the kidnappers, leaving family members and the public increasingly worried about Hon. Azuka’s fate. The uncertainty over his condition continues to alarm residents, who are closely monitoring developments in the case.
