Stop Trading With Terrorists, CDS Musa Urges Nigerians
The Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has issued a stern warning to citizens in areas affected by insecurity, urging them to desist from engaging in any form of trade or transactions with terrorists, bandits, or other non-state actors.
Speaking on Wednesday during a visit to patients at the Defence Headquarters Medical Centre as part of his Christmas and birthday celebrations, Gen. Musa emphasized that such dealings only strengthen criminal elements and undermine the efforts of security forces.
“I want to call on those who think they are profiting by trading with terrorists and bandits,” he said. “These groups have no respect for anyone. If you trade with them, they may target you or your loved ones. We must stop encouraging them because without support, they cannot survive.”
The CDS lamented the missed opportunities to address terrorism early, stating, “The mistakes made in the past by not nipping terrorism in the bud allowed it to grow. But now, with the combined efforts of all Nigerians, we are seeing progress.”
He highlighted the importance of public cooperation, particularly through prayers, support, and intelligence sharing, which have significantly contributed to improving the security situation.
Assuring Nigerians of the military’s commitment to peace, Gen. Musa declared 2025 as a “defining year” for national security. “We will leave no stone unturned to ensure peace in Nigeria. With the cooperation of Nigerians and the grace of God, we will create a better and safer nation for everyone,” he concluded.
The CDS called for continued vigilance and collaboration among citizens to sustain the gains achieved in the fight against insecurity.
