Ex-Kwara Info Commissioner Adisa Dies At 91, Gov, NUJ, NALVEJ Mourn

A former Commissioner for Information in Kwara State and former general manager of the state-owned newspaper The Herald, Alhaji AbdulRaheem Adisa, has passed away at the age of 91. Adisa died in the early hours of Thursday, and his remains have been laid to rest at the Muslim Cemetery in Osere, Ilorin, in accordance with Islamic rites.

Adisa, a veteran journalist and a former executive chairman of Moro Local Government Area, is mourned by his colleagues and the wider media community. Notable journalists, including two former chief press secretaries to Kwara State Governors, Alhaji Nurudeen AbdulRaheem and Alhaji Mas’ud Adebimpe, as well as the state chairman of the National League of Veteran Journalists (NALVEJ), Alhaji Tunde Akanbi, were present to pay their final respects at the cemetery.

Kwara State Governor, AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, extended his condolences to the family of the deceased, highlighting Adisa’s significant contributions to the media industry. In a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, the governor praised Adisa’s distinguished career, particularly his time with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), and expressed sympathy for the media community, especially The Herald newspaper. He prayed for Allah to grant Adisa entry into Al-Jannah Firdaus and to comfort the family with His mercy.

The Kwara State Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), AbdulLateef Ahmed, expressed deep sorrow over Adisa’s death, acknowledging his invaluable contributions to both the media industry and the growth of the NUJ in the state.

Alhaji Tunde Akanbi, Chairman of NALVEJ, remembered Adisa as a hardworking and versatile journalist who made significant strides during his active years in the field. He offered his condolences to the family, the NUJ, and the wider media community, describing the loss of such a fine journalist as deeply painful.
