Police Deny Attack on Gov. Fintiri’s Convoy in Taraba
The Adamawa State Police Command has refuted claims that the convoy of Governor Ahmadu Fintiri was attacked by armed robbers in neighboring Taraba State.
On Thursday, the State’s Commissioner of Police, Moris Danwambo, described the social media reports of an attack on the governor’s convoy as misleading and completely false.
CP Danwambo clarified that on December 19, the advance security vehicle in Governor Fintiri’s convoy, while returning from Taraba State, encountered a roadblock set up by robbers. The advance vehicle, which is typically ahead of the main convoy as part of standard operational procedures for VIP movements, reached the scene where robbers had set up the roadblock, forcing other commuters to halt and park their vehicles along the road.
In response, the governor’s advance security team, made up of skilled officers, quickly intervened. They chased the robbers away, cleared the road, and ensured that all motorists could continue their journeys safely.
Commending the officers for their swift and effective action, CP Danwambo urged social media users to verify information before sharing it publicly. He also expressed gratitude to journalists, both within and outside the state, for their efforts in educating the public on peacekeeping and promoting accurate reporting.
