Soludo Goes After Criminal Native Doctors in Anambra

Anambra State Governor, Professor Chukwuma Soludo, has launched a campaign against native doctors involved in criminal activities in the state, particularly those providing charms for kidnappers, armed robbers, money ritualists, and engaging in human sacrifices.

In a statement issued by the state’s Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, the governor clarified that his action is not aimed at all native doctors or practitioners of traditional medicine, but specifically at those involved in illegal and diabolical practices. The statement stressed that native doctors who are genuinely serving humanity and not involved in criminal activities are not part of this crackdown.

Governor Soludo’s initiative targets native doctors who are implicated in the preparation of charms for criminals and those perpetuating harmful practices such as Ego Mbute, Oke-Ite, and Yahoo Plus, which promote idolatry and morally corrupt behaviors. The governor is determined to eliminate such practices that contradict Igbo values of integrity, hard work, and respect for human life.

The statement from Dr. Mefor highlighted that while traditional medicine is an important part of the cultural heritage, the governor is particularly focused on exposing and dealing with those who misuse spiritual practices for criminal ends. It stressed that the crackdown is aimed at protecting the youth from being misled and ensuring that the state does not become a breeding ground for criminality.

Governor Soludo urged Ndi Anambra to collaborate with the government in identifying and reporting such individuals, noting that “security is everybody’s business.” He reassured the public that genuine native doctors who practice traditional medicine responsibly have nothing to fear from his actions, as the focus remains on rooting out the criminal elements.

This move is part of Governor Soludo’s broader effort to restore morality, integrity, and respect for human life in the state.
