Ondo Judiciary Village: Westfield Assures Quality Work and Timely Completion
Westfield Global Construction Company, the contractor awarded the 13-hectare Ondo State Judiciary Village project, has promised to deliver the project on time with high-quality standards. The project, named in honor of the late former governor of Ondo State, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, SAN, will provide state-of-the-art facilities for the judiciary.
Representatives of the company, Engr. Sannino Antonio (Project Manager) and Abdulfatai Owonifuja (General Manager), spoke at the groundbreaking ceremony in Akure, the Ondo State capital, on Friday. They assured the public of their professionalism and commitment to completing the project within the stipulated time. They also expressed gratitude to the Ondo State government for entrusting the project to Westfield Global Construction.
The Judiciary Village will feature a ceremonial court, modular courts, a registry, a library, exhibition buildings, a utility building, and modern parking facilities.
Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa, speaking at the ceremony, reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to advancing justice and improving the welfare of judicial officers in the state. He described the construction of the new High Court Complex as a historic moment, acknowledging that the vision for the project was originally conceived by the late Governor Akeredolu.
“This is a milestone as we flag off the construction of a New High Court Complex in Ondo State,” Governor Aiyedatiwa said. “Since the creation of the state in 1976, no attempt had been made to provide a modern facility for the administration of justice. Today, we are not only making history but fulfilling a long-standing dream of the judiciary.”
The Governor further emphasized the significance of the project, stating that naming it the Oluwarotimi Odunayo Akeredolu Judiciary Complex was a fitting tribute to honor the legacy of the late governor. He also acknowledged the financial challenges faced by the state, but reiterated that the project was a priority due to its potential to improve the working environment for judicial officers and speed up the delivery of justice in Ondo State.
“The project is designed to create a conducive environment for the administration of justice and expedite the dispensation of justice in Ondo State,” Aiyedatiwa explained.
The Chief Judge of Ondo State, Hon. Justice Olusegun Odusola, praised the project as a landmark achievement for the state, noting that it would elevate the judiciary to global standards with modern facilities comparable to any judicial system worldwide.
“The governor’s commitment to this project reflects his dedication to peace, justice, and the overall development of Ondo State,” Justice Odusola said.
Commissioner for Lands and Housing, Akinwumi Sowore, provided a technical overview of the project, highlighting its scope. The Judiciary Village will include 14 courtrooms, a registry, a library, an exhibition hall, a utility building, and ample parking spaces, creating a hub designed to promote efficiency in the administration of justice.
In his goodwill message, the Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Kayode Ajulo, SAN, commended the governor for his commitment to strengthening the rule of law. Ajulo stated, “In just one year, Governor Aiyedatiwa has laid a solid foundation for the growth of Ondo State’s judicial infrastructure. This project is a testament to his promise of accessible justice and his belief in the judiciary as a pillar of democracy.”
