Police Arrest 15 Suspects for Theft in Bauchi

Police operatives in Bauchi State have apprehended 15 individuals in connection with theft, criminal conspiracy, and house break-ins on Christmas Day.

The arrests were made as part of a proactive foot-patrol operation aimed at curbing crime and criminal activity during the festive season. Bauchi State Police Command spokesperson, SP Ahmed Wakil, shared the details of the arrests in a statement on Sunday morning.

“On December 25, 2024, around 3:00 AM, our team successfully foiled a burglary attempt at a shop in the Wuntin Dada area,” the statement revealed. “Upon noticing the police nearby, the suspects tried to escape by fleeing to their rented accommodation. However, the officers quickly pursued them and made the arrests.”

The arrested suspects include Adamu Umar, 20; Sadik Inuwa, 20; Ukasha Saleh, 20; Abba Musa, 18; Abdulrashid Ismail, 18; Ya’u Abubakar, 18; Mustapha Musa, 18; Yunusa Abubakar, 18; Ukasha Abubakar, 19; Ya’u Usman, 19; Iliyasu Shehu, 20; Sani Ya’u, 20; Moh’d Suleman, 23; and Idris Halisu, 18, all of whom are residents of Wuntin Dada, a suburb of Bauchi city.

Wakil further noted that during the operation, officers recovered a range of suspected stolen items, including eight assorted knives, two electric stabilizers, two car batteries, three cartons of Maltina, one carton of Fearless Juice, one carton of Coca-Cola, one carton of Miranda, 50 bottles of cough syrup, four pillows, three mattresses, three prayer mats, two cooking pots, two food flasks, and various other household goods.

In addition, based on reliable intelligence, police arrested 14-year-old Usman Ali from the Sabuwar Kasuwa area of Bauchi metropolis. Ali is accused of breaking into a mobile phone shop after seeking employment in Magama Gumau, Toro Local Government Area. He allegedly stole 18 mobile phones during the burglary.
