Troops Arrest Female Arms Courier Linked to Terrorist Leader Turji in Zamfara
Troops from 1 Brigade, Sector 2 of Operation Fansan Yamma, have arrested a 25-year-old woman, Shamsiyya Ahadu, who was acting as an ammunition courier for terrorist leader Bello Turji. The arrest took place on Saturday, December 28, 2024, in the Badarawa area of Shinkafi Local Government Area in Zamfara State.
Shamsiyya, along with her accomplice, a motorcycle rider named Ahmed Husaini, was found in possession of 764 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunition and six magazines, intended for delivery to Turji’s camp. According to Lt-Col. Abubakar Abdullahi, the Coordinator of the Joint Media Coordinating Centre, the arrest followed an intelligence report about the movement of terrorist supplies along the route from Kware to Badarawa.
In response, troops set up a roadblock, leading to the successful capture of the suspects. Both Shamsiyya and Husaini are currently undergoing investigation by the appropriate authorities.
The statement emphasized the ongoing commitment of Operation Fansan Yamma to dismantle terrorist networks and prevent the illegal movement of arms and ammunition within the region. It also called on the public to continue providing credible information that could help apprehend wanted terrorists and their collaborators.
“The Theatre expresses its gratitude for the consistent support it receives from the local population in the fulfillment of the Fansan Yamma mission,” Lt-Col. Abdullahi stated.
