Gov Fubara Presents N1.188trn 2025 Budget To Oko-Jumbo-led Rivers Assembly
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has officially presented the state’s 2025 Appropriation Bill, totaling ₦1,188,962,739,932.36 to a faction of the State House of Assembly led by Rt. Hon. Victor Oko-Jumbo. The proposed budget, which is tagged the “Budget of Inclusive Growth and Development,” is ₦388,570,247,499 higher than the ₦800,392,485,433 budget for 2024.
Governor Fubara detailed that the recurrent expenditure for the 2025 fiscal year is projected at ₦462,254,153,418.98, while capital expenditure is set at ₦678,088,433,692.03. Additionally, the budget includes a planning reserve of ₦35,688,864,931.16, with a closing balance of ₦12,931,287,890.19.
The governor emphasized that the budget’s focus is on achieving sustainable economic growth, advancing state development, and improving the living standards of the people of Rivers State. He explained that the budget’s revenue target for the year stands at ₦1,188,962,739,932.36.
Fubara highlighted the budget’s Recurrent/Capital Expenditure ratio of 44:56%, which demonstrates the state’s commitment to both infrastructural and human capital development. He stated that this approach aims to strengthen the state’s capacity to withstand potential external economic shocks, enhancing the resilience of the state’s economy and contributing to the collective development and prosperity of its people.
The governor concluded by reiterating that the 2025 budget, themed “Budget of Inclusive Growth and Development,” aligns with the state’s broader goal of promoting inclusive growth and ensuring the welfare of all citizens.
