Uzodimma Signs N807bn 2025 Imo Budget Into Law

Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, has officially signed the state’s 2025 appropriation bill into law.

While signing the bill, Governor Uzodimma revealed that the state government had initially proposed a budget of N755 billion, but the Imo State House of Assembly later adjusted it to N807 billion. He described this as a reflection of the strong collaboration between the legislature and executive in driving sustainable development through strategic and impactful infrastructure projects.

With the total budget now set at N807 billion, the governor expressed optimism that the state’s future is on a prosperous path, noting that this budget creates vast opportunities for wealth generation and would contribute to transforming Imo State into a new and thriving region. He particularly highlighted the allocation of over N600 billion to capital projects, which he believes will fundamentally reshape the state’s infrastructure.

Governor Uzodimma praised Speaker Chike Olemgbe and members of the Imo State House of Assembly for their efficient handling and swift passage of the budget. “In line with the expectations of our global partners, and as a clear demonstration of our commitment to global conventions, I am pleased that the 2025 Appropriation Bill will be available for upload on the state website by December 31, 2024,” he said.

The governor reiterated that the budget, which he has dubbed the “Budget of Expanded Economic Opportunities,” is aimed at driving the state’s economic transformation through improved infrastructure and industrialization. He emphasized that the administration’s goal is to position Imo State as a prime destination for investors and industrial players in the capital market.

Governor Uzodimma also reaffirmed his commitment to the careful implementation of the budget, with the aim of achieving the state’s economic expansion and development goals.

In his remarks, Speaker Rt. Hon. Chike Olemgbe noted that the governor presented the budget proposal to the House on December 23, 2024. He commended the governor for the thoroughness and detail of the presentation, acknowledging that the significant allocation to capital expenditure underscores the governor’s commitment to infrastructure development. He assured the governor of the Assembly’s support for the speedy implementation of the budget and its efforts to ensure that the people of Imo State benefit from the dividends of democracy.
