Elon Musk Calls For Nigel Farage’s Ouster As ‘Reform UK’ Leader

Tech billionaire Elon Musk has publicly questioned the suitability of Nigel Farage to continue as the leader of Reform UK, urging for his replacement. Musk’s comments come just weeks after reports suggested the possibility of Musk financially supporting the party.

In a direct statement on X (formerly Twitter), Musk bluntly expressed that Farage “doesn’t have what it takes” to lead the political organisation. His remark added to the growing scrutiny surrounding his relationship with the Reform UK leader.

Farage responded in an interview with the BBC, where he avoided directly addressing Musk’s criticism but took the opportunity to praise Musk’s stance on free speech. “Free speech is back,” Farage said, specifically referencing Musk’s outspoken criticism of the UK government’s handling of grooming gangs.

Despite this praise, the relationship between Musk and Farage has appeared strained. Farage seemed eager to distance himself from Musk’s public support for Tommy Robinson, a far-right activist who is currently serving a prison sentence for contempt of court. Robinson’s controversial actions and views have led to some tension between the two figures.

Reform UK, originally founded as the Brexit Party in 2018, has gone through considerable transformations under Farage’s leadership. After a period of absence, Farage returned as the party leader and was elected as a Member of Parliament in 2024, marking a significant political comeback. Throughout his career, Farage has maintained close ties with figures such as U.S. President-elect Donald Trump, further linking Musk to global political currents. Musk himself has been involved with Trump, advising the former president and positioning himself as a significant player across political and ideological spectrums.

The controversy has sparked questions about the future of Reform UK and whether Musk’s involvement will serve to strengthen or weaken Farage’s leadership of the party. As tensions mount, the party’s direction and Farage’s ability to maintain his position at its helm remain uncertain.
