JUST-IN: Aiyedatiwa Imposes Curfew On Owo Over Cult Clashes

Ondo State Governor, Hon. Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has imposed a dawn-to-dusk curfew in Owo, the headquarters of Owo Local Government Area, following violent clashes between rival cult gangs that resulted in multiple fatalities.

The violence, which erupted on Sunday and continued into Monday, involved a shootout between members of the two cult groups. The clashes have led to the deaths of four people, including Fisayo Oladipupo, a 52-year-old former youth leader of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and prominent figure in the local government. Additionally, three other people, including a mother and her child, were killed by stray bullets during a reprisal attack.

In response to the violence, Governor Aiyedatiwa issued a statement announcing the curfew and urging all residents to remain indoors during the hours of 6:00 AM to 6:00 PM until further notice. Essential services such as hospitals, emergency services, and law enforcement personnel are exempt from the curfew.

The Governor also directed security agencies in the state to enforce the curfew, ensure the safety of lives and properties, and apprehend those responsible for the violence. The move aims to restore peace to the community and bring perpetrators to justice.
