JUST-IN: Security Forces Kill 80 Bandits in Katsina
In a significant development in the fight against banditry, security forces have killed 80 bandits during a joint operation in Jibia Local Government Area of Katsina State.
The operation, executed on Saturday, January 4, 2025, targeted several notorious hideouts in Kadoji, Matso-Matso, Bagga, Dogon Marke, and Takatsaba areas. It involved the Air Component of Operation FANSAN YAMMA, troops from the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, the Police, Department of State Services (DSS), Community Watch Corps, and local vigilantes.
The operation was based on credible intelligence and aimed at eliminating key bandit strongholds in Jibia, Batsari, and Batagarawa local government areas. In addition to the 80 bandits killed, several others were injured, and their operational facilities were destroyed, severely crippling their ability to continue attacks.
Dr. Nasir Muazu, the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs, praised the security forces for their coordinated efforts and described the operation as a critical step in restoring peace to the state and the wider North-West region. He emphasized the state government’s commitment to collaborating with security agencies and local communities to maintain stability.
The successful operation is a major relief to the affected areas, which have been grappling with increased insecurity. Authorities have urged citizens to remain vigilant and support ongoing security efforts to ensure lasting peace.
