Police Arrest Man Over Alleged Car Theft, Recover Stolen Vehicle in Kano

The Kano State Police Command has successfully arrested a suspect involved in car theft and recovered a stolen vehicle. The arrest follows an investigation launched after the Anti-Car Theft Unit recovered an ash-colored Toyota Rav-4, registered under number YAB 881 JK, Abuja, during a visibility patrol in Kwanar Ungogo, Ungogo Local Government Area, on December 28, 2024.

According to the police spokesperson, SP Abdullahi Kiyawa, further investigations led to the arrest of 40-year-old Bala Sani, a resident of Funtua Local Government Area in Katsina State. Sani was apprehended on January 4, 2025, at Kwado Quarters in Katsina State.

Sani confessed to stealing the vehicle from Zaria, Kaduna State, with the help of an accomplice. He explained that he drove the car to Kano with the intention of selling it, but abandoned the vehicle at Ungogo Junction upon seeing police officers. The vehicle is currently in the custody of the Kano State Police Command, and the suspect will be charged to court once the investigation is concluded.

The police have urged the owner of the recovered vehicle to visit the Police Public Relations Office with proof of ownership or contact 08067885568 for assistance.
