Yuletide Break: Kwara Gov’t Approves Free Transport For Returning Varsity Students
The Kwara State government has announced a transport palliative to assist returning students of Kwara State University (KWASU), Malete, and the University of Ilorin (UNILORIN) as they return to their campuses after the Christmas and New Year holidays.
In a statement released on Monday by the Commissioner for Business, Innovation, and Technology, Hon. Damilola Yusuf-Adelodun, the government has provided extra buses free of charge to ease the burden of transportation costs for students commuting from Ilorin to their respective universities, which are located far from the city center.
The free transport service is available to all registered students of KWASU and UNILORIN. The buses are stationed at Queen Elizabeth School on General Taiwo Road and Soludero Park near the Post Office in Ilorin, making it convenient for students to access the transport.
Hon. Yusuf-Adelodun highlighted that the initiative demonstrates the state’s commitment to supporting the educational journey of its citizens. She urged students to take advantage of the free transportation and to return to their campuses on time, noting that the measure was specifically designed to alleviate their travel challenges.
The gesture underscores the state government’s dedication to fostering education and supporting students during the holiday season.
