Governor Yusuf Advocates for Reduction in 2025 Hajj Fare
Kano State Governor, Abba Yusuf, has called on the Federal Government to consider lowering the 2025 Hajj fare due to the current economic challenges facing the country.
Governor Yusuf made the appeal during an event hosted by the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, where a refund of N375 million was presented to pilgrims from the state who participated in the 2023 Hajj.
A statement issued by his spokesperson, Sanusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, revealed that the refund was made following power outages that occurred during the 2023 Hajj operations.
The Director-General of the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board, Alhaji Laminu Rabiu Danbaffa, confirmed that a total of N375 million was refunded to the state, which will be distributed among the pilgrims who undertook the 2023 Hajj.
Governor Yusuf expressed his appreciation to the Saudi Arabian government for their swift and humanitarian action in returning the funds. He also extended his gratitude to the National Hajj Commission (NAHCON) for their efficient and responsible handling of the refund process.
The governor commended the Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board for its successful management of the 2023 Hajj operations, highlighting the Board’s recognition as the best in the country. He urged the Board to uphold its high standards for future Hajj operations.
