Kano Governor’s Adviser Passes Away a Day After Inauguration

 

The Kano State Government was plunged into mourning on Wednesday following the sudden death of Engr. Ahmad Ishaq Bunkure, who had just been appointed Special Adviser on Works to Governor Abba Yusuf. His passing occurred just one day after he was sworn in.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, Governor Yusuf’s spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, confirmed that Bunkure had passed away in Egypt.

According to LEADERSHIP, Engr. Bunkure was among the newly appointed aides and commissioners who were sworn in by Governor Yusuf on Monday, January 6, 2025.

Governor Yusuf expressed his deep sorrow in a condolence message, describing the late adviser as a devoted professional whose expertise was set to play a key role in the administration’s development plans.

“This is an incredibly difficult moment for us as a government,” the governor said. “Engr. Bunkure was a committed professional whose knowledge and contributions were expected to help shape our vision for progress. His loss is felt profoundly.”

The governor also extended his condolences to Bunkure’s family, praying for Allah’s mercy on his soul and for strength for his loved ones during this difficult time.
