Police Rescue Three Abducted Bauchi Children Sold for N2 Million in Anambra
Police operatives from Bauchi and Anambra States have successfully rescued three children—Sabo Salisu (3 years old), Isah Abdulkadir (4 years old), and Nana Khadija Zakariya’u (6 years old)—who were abducted from the Gwallameji community, on the outskirts of Bauchi metropolis.
One of the children was reportedly sold for N2 million in Anambra State before being rescued by the police. The children were abducted by a woman who had rented an apartment in the neighborhood of their family residence in early December 2024. The suspect allegedly lured the children with the promise of buying them toys, but never returned with them.
The Bauchi State Commissioner of Police, CP Auwal Mohammed, confirmed that the children were rescued through a collaborative intelligence network between security operatives in both Anambra and Bauchi States.
Speaking during the handover of the children to their parents, Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed, expressed deep concern and frustration over the growing cases of child abductions and trafficking in the state. His comments came shortly after the state government had previously received seven abducted children who were sold in Kano State in 2023.
Governor Mohammed stressed the urgency of addressing the problem, calling for a change in mindset, particularly urging parents to take greater responsibility for their children’s safety and welfare. He also praised the support of Anambra State Governor, Prof. Charles Soludo, whose cooperation was pivotal in the successful rescue operation.
