Tinubu Orders Investigation Into Army Base Ambush in Borno
President Bola Tinubu has expressed deep sympathy following the tragic loss of six soldiers in a terrorist attack on an army base in Sabon Gida, Damboa Local Government Area, Borno State, on January 4, 2025. In response, he has called for a thorough investigation to determine the circumstances surrounding the incident and ensure that lessons are learned to prevent future attacks.
In a statement from his spokesman, Bayo Onanuga, President Tinubu extended his condolences to the families of the fallen soldiers, honoring their bravery and sacrifice in defending the nation. He assured that their contributions would be remembered and cherished.
The President praised the military for its swift reaction, particularly the air component, which launched successful retaliatory airstrikes that neutralized several terrorists and destroyed their assets as they attempted to flee.
President Tinubu remarked, “This decisive action by the Army showcases the capability and readiness of our military to confront and overcome threats to our security. Their actions reaffirm our commitment to eradicating terrorism and banditry, ensuring a future where peace and security reign for all Nigerians.”

Additionally, President Tinubu urged the military to intensify operations in the North-West, where bandits and terrorists continue to endanger innocent lives. He called for the proactive dismantling of criminal camps, stressing that the safety of citizens is paramount.
