BREAKING: Gov Makinde Appoints Abimbola Owoade as New Alaafin of Oyo

After over two years of deliberations, Governor Seyi Makinde of Oyo State has officially announced Abimbola Akeem Owoade as the new Alaafin of Oyo Kingdom.

The announcement was made on Friday in a statement issued by the Chief Press Secretary (CPS) to the governor, Sulaimon Olanrewaju, in Ibadan, the state capital.

The throne had been vacant since the death of Oba Lamidi Olayiwola Adeyemi III, who reigned as Alaafin from 1970 until his passing in 2022.
